We are so happy to present the first edition of the 09/10 school year! As our newspaper club restarted in the Fall, we grew in staff members from just 12 to 33! Please take the time to read the many interesting stories and opinions that these students worked so hard on.
We are also very excited to present this newspaper in two formats, a downloadable pdf version and an online version where you can turn each page and view a spread of two pages just like a regular newspaper. It is amazing what today’s technology can provide in order to reach more people.
Just click on the Fall 2009 link here or the tab above.
Please check out our final edition for the 08/09 school year!
right click below to download the pdf verision, click on the June 2009 tab to see the paper online.
Wow! We have only been live for a week, and what an amazing response so far! We have received some wonderful comments from parents and teachers, and have been featured in two newspapers articles! Please check out your current Swampscott Reporter to see coverage on the front page! The Lynn Item has also completed a story on us in the June 5th edition – see us on page A6!
You can find both online:
Swampscott Reporter Article – May 29, 2009
Lynn Item Article – June 5, 2009
We are very proud of the students who have worked so hard to achieve these results. Look out for our final edition of the year the last week of June! Thank you for everyone’s continued and amazing support!
The first edition of Swampscott middle school’s new newspaper – The Atlantic Compass – has now arrived! In our strive to be Earth-friendly and green, we are offering two electronic formats of this paper. You have the option to download the paper in its entirety in a traditional format in a pdf file, or you can choose the edition month above and view it in a blog format.
The pdf version of the May 2009 edition can be found here:
If you would like to download the file to your computer, right click the link and choose save as. If you would like to view it in an internet window, just click on the link directly.
Again, to view the paper in the blog format, choose the link May 2009 above, which will bring you to May’s table of contents. Because this is set up in a blog format, we have the ability to provide links to sites referred to in articles, have the option of incorporating media, polls, etc., and you, the reader, can let us know what you think through our moderated comments, available on all articles.
Thanks for checking us out, happy reading!
